Teaching From Experience

We hire leading industry professionals to teach at Foundry because we know that it works and that as designers, it is what you would have wanted when you were first learning the ropes. But don’t worry, if you feel like teaching is a far-cry from your day to day, it isn’t. We have developed leading educational content, designed to be taught by people who spend their time working in their field. You are there to mentor, guide and bring life to the learning.

About The Role

We are currently looking for teachers skilled in web design to join our team and teach the next generation of Tasmanian designers. We need people who are passionate about design and dedicated to using the latest and most industry relevant techniques available.

You will be teaching 5-14 aspiring designers in a classroom scenario using a mixture of tutorial, discussion and exercises. Classes are 2hrs each and run from Monday to Wednesday starting from February 5th 2018, for 10 weeks. As the teacher of these classes it is expected you will also mark assessments within the two-week turnaround (this is an additional payment on top of your normal teaching rate).

About You

You will have:

  • 3-5 years of graphic design experience (ideally), but passion and industry knowledge go a long way,
  • A degree in a relevant field (or suitable industry experience),
  • CERT IV TAE (Training & Assessment) is highly regarded but not essential, we can also help you source a course,
  • High knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop etc.) and video editing (if applying for the After Effects/Premier role),
  • Willingness and ambition to learn and teach,
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, being able to adapt your style to different personalities and build relationships,

Why Apply?

  • Teach and mentor the next generation of design students and make sure they are ready for the industry.
  • Be part of a young creative company that is always exploring new ways of doing things and shaking up the norm.
  • Help keep creatives in Tassie and turn it into the creative State we all know it is.

We are looking to interview immediately.
Please send your CV and cover letter to matt.leach@myfoundry.com.au with ‘Foundry Design Teacher’ in the subject line. Make sure you state what role(s) you would like to apply for.
