Who's it for?

Content Writing is for the natural wordsmith looking for a story to tell. It’s for the empath, the sharer of knowledge and opinions, the pun-lover, the witty communicator, the purveyor of colourful descriptions. It requires a willingness to play the mediator between a brand and the audience, the ability to translate complex ideas simply and the tools to communicate in a way that puts the audience top of mind.

Content is King

As early as 1996, Bill Gates wrote a pivotal  essay titled “Content is King” where he (quite correctly) predicted that the future of the internet was in content. This prediction may have taken a full two decades to come to fruition, but today, it seems as if nothing is more important than content — in the creative industries and beyond. Social Media posts, blogs, articles, reviews, video scripts and even memes are now a prolific part of our everyday life and how we consume information. Gone are the days of print media where you could be “just” a journalist. Today you are expected to contribute to the whole cycle of content development.

Write Your Own Story

As the industry continues to recognise the value of brand, the focus has increasingly switched to the importance of brand ‘voice’ and narrative. This is the world of the content writer; they are the brand storytellers, communicating brand values, point of difference and the “Why” to the potential customer or consumer. When used properly — with a clear view to audience and purpose — words are powerful tools not only for simply “selling” but for changing perception, effecting change and making a real difference to human lifestyles and lives.
